Dr. Ellen Davis and Dr. Alex Gonçalves are a husband and wife team who have knitted together their aligned professional values, complementary styles, and skill sets to create a dynamic partnership providing excellence in patient care.
Woodland Forge is founded on the belief that complete healing from eating disorders is possible. Parents have too long been marginalized and need to be empowered to take charge of their child's recovery. With proper training and support parents can effectively intervene in their child or adolescent's mental illness and change the course of their life for the better.
Drs. Davis and Gonçalves have a great appreciation for the need to understand individual psychodynamics and family dynamics. However, we also understand that the appropriate means of intervention varies across problems, circumstances, and individuals. We are flexible in our treatment approach and pay attention to empirical evidence for treatment effectiveness. We embrace family based treatment when treating an eating disorder in a young person. We also create a strong alliance with the patients and their family to help them feel supported and guided through the recovery process.
